About the SLA's

THE SOUTH FLORIDA SLEAZY HUMANITARIAN AWARDS
ENTERING IT'S 7TH YEAR OF SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY

The Sleazy Humanitarian Awards annual awards program, have enabled the non-profit organization to donate more than $89,000.00 in the past seven years to HIV/aids charities, as well as funding other programs. In the year 2009 the donation was more than $7,000.00 dollars, and we look forward to exceeding that amount this year.

We are known in the South East of Florida as one of the largest charity generating organizations held every March. We started as a spoof to the Humanitarian awards of South Florida. This event was designed to acknowledge those in the community who would not be eligible to receive any of the awards offered through the Humanitarian Awards of South Florida. This event is for them. We provide yet another way for the average person to contribute to our community through fun entertainment, all the while generating moneis for charities to help support those less fortunate then us.

Our first event was a launched at The Copa in March of 2003, at which we had skits, M.C.'s and Bar Tables to help support this event. Guido started The SLA's to help support our community and so far it has grown each year. The donations went to charities that provided food, clothing, medical supplies  and many other programs for the needy of the HIV/aids community.

Since that wonderful start, we have established a Board of Directors to assist Guido with this event. We have grown from a simple Skit program to a major event filling three days of fun and entertainment for this program.
Board meetings are held monthly and the officers and directors are elected annually.
As the our community has dramatically expanded in recent years, so the SLA's prestige has increased. We now are filmed live by QueerChannel.tv as well as our events are covered in all South Florida Magazines.
